Isuzu Introduces Its First Electric Truck!
Isuzu Commercial Truck of America, Inc. has introduced its first all-electric plug in production model, the N-Series EV. The 2025 model year Class 5 truck featuring a full 19,500lb GVW rating and new cab design will be available first half of 2024.
"The N-Series EV is a game-changer! As we look to the regulatory landscape ahead of us, we know that the demand for a medium-duty truck powered by electricity is going to increase dramatically and we will be ready with the first electric production Class 5 low cab forward truck in the U.S and Canadian marketplace."
Notable features of the 2025 NRR EV:
- 19,500lb GVWR to handle your tough Class 5 demands
- Wheelbases ranging from 132.5 to 176 inches
- Standard cab-forward design
- Four choices of battery capacity, with a range of up to 235 miles
- DC Fast Charging & AC Level 2 charging capability
- Optional Advanced Driver Assistance System
- New cab design to increase driver safety, comfort and style
Every N-Series EV will be powered by a number of 20kWh lithium-ion battery packs. Compared to conventional lead-acid batteries, lithium-ion batteries are lighter, store more energy in less space, last longer and don't require traditional maintenance.
Customers will be able to choose from 3, 5, 7, and 9 battery pack models. All else being equal, the more battery packs, the longer the driving range. By offering four configurations, Isuzu will allow customers to choose the combination that's best for their business.
For ease of charging, all N-series EV models will be equipped with charging ports that accomodate the most popular charging connectors in the U.S. and Canada:
- DC Charging (CCS1)
- AC Charging (J1772)
To accomodate their multiple battery packs and to provide reasonable charging times, N-Series EV trucks will have an AC Level 2 charging time ranging from 5.5 to 10 hours, and a DC fast charging time ranging from 1 to 2.5 hours.

A Matter Of Timing...
A fellow was walking along a country road when he came upon a farmer working in his field. The man called out to the farmer, "How long will it take me to get to the next town?"
The farmer didn't answer.
The guy waited a bit and then started walking again. After the man had gone about a hundred yards, the farmer yelled out "About 20 minutes!"
"Thank you. But why didn't you tell me that when I asked you?"
